For the more adventurous, you can take to the sky for a scenic flight or enjoy some aviation history and sit in the cockpit of an F1-11 at the HARS Aviation Museum for a selfie. Tee off at one of two stunning golf courses, take a round of mini golf or enjoy the many cycleways. The jewel in the crown is the world class Shellharbour Marina and Waterfront Dining precinct.

Bushrangers Bay

Bushrangers Bay Aquatic Reserve is regarded as one of the best snorkelling and diving spots in the state.

Lake Illawarra

With 13 boat ramps surrounding the 33 square km lake, and water flowing fresh from the escarpment and ocean, Lake Illawarra is popular for fishing, prawning, all water sports. You can hire a boat or book a stand-up paddle board and watch the sunrise. Explore the local history, Aboriginal heritage, flora and fauna with a cycle or walk around Lake Illawarra’s Art Trail.

Killalea Regional Park

Killalea has over 260 hectares of pristine coastal reserve with spectacular coast, littoral rainforest walking trails, extensive estuarine wetlands and seabird breeding areas. You can camp amid all this or stay in the backpacker style bunkhouse. Either way you will wake up to the smell of the ocean in amongst green rollings hills and have the a chance to catch up with nature.
