The Royal National Park is the second oldest national park in the world (established in 1879) and features a multitude of landscapes from open grassland to dramatic cliffs and plenty of beaches tucked away from the bustle of busy life. Just be prepared to walk a little further to get to them. There are walks ranging from just a few minutes stride to a two-day excursion and the scenery is spectacular. 

Road Trip Essentials

Audley

Located within the Royal National Park, where Kangaroo Creek joins the Hacking River.  Audley is the oldest of the cultural landscapes within the park and the perfect place to park for a picnic, hire a canoe from the boat shed or grab a bite to eat at the 1940’s Audley Dance Hall Cafe.

Garie and Little Garie Beach

Garie Beach and Little Garie Beach are 2 of 11 beaches located with the Royal National Park. Garie beach is patrolled by Surf Life Savers during the peak swimming season, so you can enjoy a swim safely in between the flags. After a swim make sure you take a short walk to Governor Game Lookout before leaving to enjoy the spectacular views.

Wattamolla

Wattamolla is another great spot picnic spot within the Royal National Park. Take a dip in the calm waters of the lagoon or splash around in the surf. There are a few different walking tracks that also start at Wattamolla.
